The power of Fox News et al

So apparently 15 percent of people believe that Obama is a Muslim. I guess this shouldn't surprise me given that about half of Americans don't accept evolution, but it sort of serves as a reiteration of the power of Fox News.

There are people who would never vote for a Democrat anyway, and their reasoning then is moot, I guess. (The same poll found that 8 percent of respondents admitted they wouldn't vote for Obama solely because he is black. And that's just the people who admitted it. They, I guess, were never going to vote Democratic.)

But I do wonder if any of these respondents are independents, and ultimately decide not to vote for Obama because they think he's a terrorist.

Everyone's talking about the importance of substantive debates, but the swing voters are probably paying a lot more attention to misleading photos than to policy differences.
